Day 10: A Solitary World
You wake up in an empty world. What happens?

我在空无一人的大街上漫无目的地行走,打量着昨天还是人潮涌动的街道。不知道发生了什么事,一觉睡醒之后,世界就成了这个样子了。我已经独占了地球三个小时了,对现状还是挺满意的,十分肯定我今天不用上班。 | I amble along the empty avenue, no destination in mind. I observe a street that resounded with the sound of scuffling feet just yesterday. I don’t know what happened, when I woke up this morning, I found the world in this state. I have been alone in the world for three hours. So far I am quite happy, one thing I know for sure is that I don’t have to go to work today. |
好久没有好好看过广州的东山口了,从小到大,我都很喜欢这里中西结合的洋房别墅,红砖墙面,白色栏柱,赭色门窗,映衬着周围深绿色的大榕树。今天只有我在这里,没有其他学生和游客。周围的小吃店都还开着,虽然没有人,但是食物还是供应着的。实在是太棒了!我跟随着香味,走进一家牛杂店,牛杂萝卜还是滚烫的,我自己拿着碗盛了熬煮入味的牛杂和焖得软糯的萝卜,再撒上蒜蓉辣椒酱,坐在树荫下,享用我最喜欢的小吃。啊,实在是人间美味!同时也在想,下一样该吃什么? | I haven’t looked around this district of Guangzhou in a long time. I’ve always liked the mansions and villas, the clash of West and East in the red brick walls, the white fences, doors and windows framed in auburn, all safely shaded beneath the verdant banyan trees. Today I am the only one here, there are no students, no tourists. The little eateries all around have kept their doors open, and although they are empty of people, they are still full of food. Perfect! I follow my nose into a shop that promises boiling hot servings of beef tripe with radish. I help myself to a heaping bowl full of soft juicy tripe braised with soft sticky radish. I top it off with garlic and chilli paste and find a tree to shade this treat, my favourite snack. Ah, this taste, heaven on earth! As I eat, I start planning what to try next. |
不知道这样的世界能让我独占多久,但接下来我肯定会抓紧时间尽量多吃! | I don’t know how long I will be left here all alone, but I am resolved to use the time I have to savour all I can! |
